Our vision at Heavin Helps Community Supports is to create a world where everyone has access to the support services they need to thrive. We view life as a blessing and being provided with such a blessing it is our obligation as a humanity to uplift each other. Some people are more fortunate than others and haven't experienced the same trauma or upbringing than others. Nobody decides that they want to be homeless and nobody does their first drug planning to become addicted. No matter what difficult situation you're in, Heavin Helps is here to help. We always root for the underdog, because we've always been the underdog. Let Heavin Helps help you prove to anyone who ever doubted you or looked down on you in any way, that they were wrong. Let us help you get back on your feet and get your life together as you imagine it to be. Everyone deserves to have basic human rights including having a roof over their head. No family should be left hungry. We believe that everyone deserves to live a healthy and fulfilling life, and we are committed to working towards this goal every day. We are here to help, and will take the time and effort it takes to ensure goals are being met and you are receiving the help you deserve.
Tim Heavin is the very first Community Health Worker to be contracted with Medi-Cal in San Benito County. His approach is rooted in genuine compassion for underserved and marginalized communities. Having lived experience with homelessness, addiction, and incarceration, Tim is un wavering in his commitment to be of service to those individuals that may be still suffering . We are here to help. All of our clients will be treated with dignity and respect. We meet people where they're at in life and focus on proven harm reduction methods. Tim is well trained in trauma informed care, cultural humility, and client centered practices centered around motivation and autonomy.
We work closely with a variety of community partners to ensure that we are meeting the needs of everyone in our community. Our partnerships include local hospitals, healthcare providers, behavioral health, probation, and other community organizations.
In 2022 Tim Heavin developed the Lived Experience Advisory Directive (L.E.A.D.) www.chsp.org/lead which is a Continuum of Care advisory board and consists of 15 members of persons with lived experience of homelessness. Tim Heavin is currently the chair of the L.E.A.D. and his been a critical part of holding programs accountable and ensuring funding is being used effectively with housing first principles and inclusive of the voices of those with lived experience.
Tim Heavin was awarded the Dread McCall Community Hero Award at the 2023 Lead Me Home Summit. His dedication and service in the community has earned him this distinguished recognition.
Our focus will be assisting unhoused individuals and persons in re-entry with all of their health care needs, housing, education, advocacy, training, and peer support.
This is a fundraiser to raise money to help fight homelessness. Any dollar amount donated will qualify for a scavenger hunt and opportunity to win prizes.
